About the Game

We mean well. But the thing about language is it's imperfect code. Words have a way of coming between us. So even when we share ideas in common, we use different words to express them, and the words we use tend to piss each other off.

What we know about AI is that it's really good at unpacking meaning from words, and translating it into other words. A tool like this can help us in all kinds of ways—creative, strategic, academic, scientific—but one of the most impactful is to help me find the words that will make sense to you, and the other way around.

Now is a good time for us to understand each other a little bit better. Because we seem to have lost interest in doing that as much. That's why we made this game.

We realized the potential of AI to act as a real-time translator, to find the words that might help us connect, that might help us see each other's point. That might even help us realize that we're closer in our values than we thought we were.

This is a beta, and an early beta at that. So please know that the translations aren't going to be perfect, and they might even completely suck every so often. But be patient, because even the attempt at translating can be helpful. And at the very least, we can blame the machines and not just our words.

Because all this time, we've been using imperfect words. So let's try and find better ones. We don't have to agree. But at least we can disagree better.
